Niacinamide in Skincare
Niacinamide is also known as Nicotinamide which is a form of Vitamin B3. Niacinamide is one of the go-to’s for healthy looking skin which is why it is used in skincare products worldwide. Niacinamide is a powerhouse Skincare Active that, when used as part of a daily skincare routine, is known to help skins resilience, maintain hydration while working to even out skin tone and texture. Here's why Niacinamide is so widely used in Skincare.
Barrier Support
Niacinamide is known to have barrier supporting benefits. This basically means that Niacinamide can help your skin maintain the essential moisture in the outer layer of your skin. This makes your skin is less susceptible to the environment and things in it what would disturb the balance of your skin.
Radiance
Niacinamide is known to assist in skin conditioning. Softer, more supple, even skin tones appear more radiant. Ongoing studies have shown that Niacinamide may help with sebum control which is useful for oily skin types and clogged pores. When there are less dead skin cells on the surface of our skin, light refracts evenly over skin which means that skin appears more radiant and youthful, even and delicious 😉
Hyperpigmentation
A key concern for ranging skin types is hyperpigmentation, blemishes, dark marks and discolouration. Niacinamide is known to assist with evening out skin tone targeting areas of concern.
According to a Clinical Trial, "In the clinical studies, niacinamide significantly decreased hyperpigmentation and increased skin lightness compared with vehicle alone after 4 weeks of use."
Elasticity
Niacinamide is considered one of the key ingredients in gentle aging by improving skins elasticity which in turn reduced the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles producing a more youthful appearance. According to MedicineNet, "Because it promotes the production of ceramides and elastin, both vital components of the skin barrier, niacinamide helps strengthen the complexion’s natural protective shield. This results in more hydrated, healthy skin that can better defend itself against moisture loss and outside irritants."
When used as part of a well-balanced skincare routine, Niacinamide is beneficial and may be used every day.
